Winter/Spring 2025

Drydocking Arnold Freight's Corsair

Our skilled team is set to undertake steel work and repairs on Arnold Freight's vessel, the Corsair. With dedicated efforts throughout the winter and spring, this ferry will be fully prepared to transport freight to and from Mackinac Island, MI, just in time for the season.

Tug Assist for Fincantieri-Bay Ship

Basic Towing, Inc. assisted with drydocking the Paul R. Tregurtha at Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay, WI.

Basic Towing, Inc. worked long hours to assist with the drydocking of the Joseph L. Block at Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding.

Ship Lift Testing at Fincantieri Marinette Marine

Basic Towing, Inc. is proud to have played a crucial role in the testing of FMM's new ship lift with our dedicated tugboat, the Nickelena. Our team values collaboration and is excited to contribute to innovative projects in the maritime industry.

Drydocking the Ruleau Brother's Robert Louis

Our NSMT staff is set to bring this fishing boat back to life with a thorough out-of-water inspection, shaft and bearing repairs, along with underwater blast and paint. Thank you for choosing us for your drydocking needs!

Basic Towing, Inc. assisted with towing the Ferry Badger out of the Large Drydock at Fincantieri - Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay, WI providing efficient and reliable towing services.

Victory I and Victory II Cruise Ship Visits

NSMT in Escanaba is thrilled to be one of the selected ports in the Great Lakes for the visits of the Victory I and Victory II Cruise Ships this season. It’s our pleasure to welcome the passengers and crew to our area, and we can't wait to hear about their experiences during their stay.

Fabricated Fuel Tank & Cradle for Corsair

At NSMT, we take pride that our exceptional team is dedicated to meeting all your fabricating and welding needs. This past winter and spring of 2025, during Arnold Freight's refurbishment and repowering, we successfully crafted a brand new fuel tank that will be integral to the new vessel. Our commitment to quality and innovation ensures that we deliver the best solutions for your projects.

Summer/Fall 2025

Drydocking USCGC Buckthorn

NSMT staff has been collaborating with the US Coast Guard so that the Buckthorn is restored to the highest standards through various repair work items. We appreciate this opportunity to work together and are committed to delivering exceptional results.

Towing of USCGC Sequoia

The Basic Towing Crew successfully towed the USCG Sequoia from Port Huron, MI to Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay, WI for an essential drydocking and repair at their facility. Our experienced team ensures that every tow is executed with precision and care.

Summer 2025

Towing of USS Cobia Submarine

Basic Towing, Inc. is proud to have provided towing services with Tugs Nickelena & Erika Kobasic for the USS Cobia Submarine, transporting it from the Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Manitowoc, WI to Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay, WI for essential drydock repairs, helping to preserve WWII history. 

Fall 2025

Docking of Edwin H. Gott

NSMT is fortunate to have a large amount of layup space for last minute needs. The Edwin H. Gott, measuring 1000 ft., visited our facility for a quick layup for repairs to get them back on their way.
