Winter 2026 - Construction/Fabriaction of 2 Spuds for Barge
NSMT constructed and fabricated two (2) Binkley Barge Spuds for the US Army Corps of Engineers in Tennessee. They were delivered in the Spring of 2026.
Winter/Spring 2026 - Structural Repair to Michels Corporation Barge
NSMT performed various tasks including major structural repair in Michels Barge CBR 763 along with blasting and painting. Thank you for choosing us for your repair needs!
Spring 2026 - Tug Assist for Sea.O.G. in Manitowoc, WI
Our Basic Towing crew assisted Sea.O.G. with the loading of a crane onto their Ocean Tower barge and out into Lake Michigan in Manitowoc, WI. The crane on the Ocean Tower was making the long trip to Pearl Harbor, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Spring/Summer 2026 - Tug Assists at FMM
Our Basic Towing crew has been hard at work assisting with various tug assists at Fincantieri Marinette Marine. They often use 4 tugs to move large vessels in the river along the shipyard, including the USS Cleveland (LCS 31) that was recently commissioned in May. It is a great collaboration between the two businesses!
Winter 2026 - BTI Tug Assistance in Detroit, MI
Ice Breaking Tug, Erika Kobasic, and our Basic Towing Crew spent one month in Detroit, MI performing ice breaking and tug assistance duties for large vessels coming to/from the area.
Spring 2026 - Completion of USCGC Buckthorn
The routine 5-year haul-out, inspection, and repair for the USCGC Buckthorn unexpectedly evolved into a year-long project focused on significant hull steelwork repairs, alongside numerous tasks outlined in the original contract. We are grateful for the chance to collaborate with an outstanding crew and are proud to have contributed to the Buckthorn's next journey!
Spring/Summer 2026 - Drydocking USCGC Katmai Bay
NSMT staff is currently performing a routine 5-year drydocking consisting of maintenance and repairs on the USCGC Katmai Bay to keep it in great working condition. Thank you for the opportunity to work on this vessel!
Winter/Spring/Summer/Fall - Tug Assists at FBS
Basic Towing is grateful for the opportunity for the continuous tug work at FIncantieri Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay, WI. Our tugs support and move vessels into / out of the shipyard's various drydocks throughout the year.
